BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Steamship Authority, which runs daily vehicle-carrying ships to the islands off the Cape, has already reduced its schedule in response to the spread of COVID-19. Now, it's also asking travelers to make some changes to help social distancing efforts.
An alert sent out Sunday morning updated customers that the Steamship Authority will be implementing social distancing on the ships by asking everyone to stay in their cars.
If travelers do need to step out of their vehicles, the Authority asks that people maintain a distance of six feet from each other in accordance with social distancing guidelines.
The announcement also said all concessions will be closed, and the Authority is urging customers who want to make a change in bookings to call in advance.
