NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Dartmouth man is under arrest after a police chase that ran through three different states.

Police arrested Ian Grant in North Stonington, Connecticut after his pickup truck was run off the road and into nearby woods, according to Massachusetts State Police. The chase began in Westport, Massachusetts before heading into Rhode Island, and eventually ending in Connecticut.

State Police said New Bedford Police initially tried to pull Grant over around 11 a.m. because he had an outstanding felony warrant for assault and witness intimidation. Grant allegedly then fled the scene and took off westbound down Route 195.

Three State Troopers following the pursuit placed a tire deflation along Route 195 device to try to stop the vehicle, but when he approached the area, Grant allegedly drove into the median towards the troopers. The troopers responded by shooting at the vehicle, which struck two cruisers before fleeing the scene and heading the wrong way down the highway.

State Police then began a search on land and in the air for the suspect vehicle, which was later located on Route 1 in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The pursuit continued through Charlestown to Westerly and then headed onto Route 78 into Connecticut.
