BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dog owners were put on high alert after a dog ingested raisins left in Peters Park in the South End.

Ethan Felleman was walking his three-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, Rocko, on Sunday morning when Rocko started eating a pile of raisins left on the ground.

“He was ingesting, at his record speed of eating, a bunch of raisins,” said Felleman.

Felleman rushed Rocko to the emergency veterinarian because raisins can be highly toxic for dogs. Fortunately, Rocko recovered and Felleman returned to Peters Park to clean up the raisins.

Despite cleaning up the mess, Felleman saw another couple hundred raisins on the ground at Peters Park just three days later.

“I want to look on the positive side. And hopefully, this was someone that just didn’t know any better and was feeding the birds,” said Felleman.

Felleman asked anyone who might be behind the raisins to stop and he warned dog owners to stay alert.
