BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Dorchester man is under arrest after an alleged assault on a Red Line train on Friday, according to Transit Police.
Transit Police said officers arrested 40-year-old David Washington-Halfkenny after he allegedly attacked another rider on a Red Line train while it was stopped. Officers responded to the JFK/UMass MBTA stop after getting a radio call about an assault in process.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man, later identified as Washington-Halfkenny, standing over and shouting at a 26-year-old man who was bleeding profusely from his face and head. The officers then intervened and talk to the victim.
The victim told the officers he was seated on the train and keeping to himself when Washington-Halfkenny began pacing up and down the train car aggressively and then suddenly struck the victim's face and head multiple times with a blunt object. He said to police the attack was unprovoked.

Officers on the scene gave the victim first aid until a Boston EMS ambulance arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital.
