EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As sports betting inches toward reality in Massachusetts, Encore Boston Harbor wants to bring gambling out to the parking lot.

Encore Senior Vice President Jacqui Krum told the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on Thursday that the casino is interested in putting sports betting kiosks in its parking garage. Krum told the Commission during a meeting on Thursday that Encore's space is limited, and that quick, drive-up gambling could have wider appeal for some of their customers.

The garage area would be cordoned off, with security.

Krum said they're looking at other, creative ways to implement sports betting. Another idea is to hold watch parties for games in a ballroom with temporary sports betting set up.

Encore Boston Harbor is one of five establishments statewide that are eligible for Category 1 and 2 sports betting licenses under the new state law, which allow in-person betting.
