YARMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A unique non-profit on Cape Cod takes used flowers and repurposes them for a worthy cause.

Every week, a group of volunteers gather at the headquarters of Flower Angels USA in Yarmouth to let their creative juices flow.

They put together flower arrangements using teacups and colorful flowers that have been donated from weddings and funerals.

The groups then turns these into beautiful bouquets and donates them to local nursing home residents who have no family or rarely get visitors.

Volunteer Sue said the residents are extremely grateful.

“People would cry because it just made them so happy to have a visitor, and the flowers of course,” she said. “They never get anything.”

Mara said this is the best volunteer opportunity because she gets “to bring joy to people’s hearts.”
