FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Another former Patriots player may be coming out of retirement.

Former Cornerback Malcolm Butler made an appearance during a New England Patriots tryout at Gillette Stadium on Monday. The arrival came four years since he was benched during the Patriots' Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though he did not see much play during the big game, Butler said that he forgives the Patriots and Bill Belichick, who by all accounts has brought back the cornerback in for a workout.

WBZ's Chris Fama asked Patriots fans how they felt about Butler's potential return to New England.

"I think it's good, I like the way he plays- I don't know how much he has left in the tank at this point," said one fan. Butler did not play during the last season, as he retired just weeks before the 2021 campaign began.

In Butler's last season with the Tennessee Titans two years ago, he recorded career highs in interceptions, tackles, and led the team in passes defended.

WBZ's Chris Fama (@CFamaWBZ) reports.
