FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some free foliage will be coming to Framingham’s Eversource customers.

On Monday, Eversource and the Arbor Day Foundation announced that they are partnering up to distribute free trees and shrubs to customers through the Energy-Saving Trees program. Customers across three states, including residents in Framingham, Mass., are eligible for the promotion.

Those that participate in the program will also get access to an interactive platform that shows the best places to plant a tree to cut energy costs. The platform would also show the estimated environmental benefits of each planting location.

“It’s important to plant the right tree, in the right place, at the right time, and this program makes it easy for communities to do just that,” said Arbor Day Foundation Chief Executive Dan Lambe in a statement.

Eligible households can sign up for a complimentary plant on a first-come, first-serve basis though an online portal. The plants will be distributed in May.
