Full Massachusetts Primary Day Results Are In

A rainy Primary Day in Massachusetts led to decisive victories in a handful of competitive races. Below are the results as of Wednesday morning.

Massachusetts Governor

• In the Democratic Primary, Attorney General Maura Healey ran effectively unopposed. State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz pulled out of the race in late June, but was still technically on the ballot.
• Trump-endorsed former State Rep. Geoff Diehl won over Wrentham businessman and relative political newcomer Chris Doughty. He'll face Healey in the general election.

Lieutenant Governor

• A hotly-competitive three-way race on the Democratic side ended with Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll winning out. Her competitors were State Senator Eric Lesser and State Rep. Tami Gouveia. The race results were neatly divided by geography. Lesser represents a district in Western Mass., and nearly every community west of the Quabbin Reservoir voted for him. Driscoll picked up the vast majority of votes in the east.
• On the Republican side, former State Rep. Leah Allen beat Kate Campanale on a very narrow margin.

Attorney General

• Former Boston City Councilor Andrea Campbell won over Brookline labor lawyer Shannon Liss-Riordan on the Democratic side. Polling had been tight, and this race turned into an endorsement battle in late August. Liss-Riordan won the endorsement of several Boston powerbrokers, including Mayor Michelle Wu Senator Elizabeth Warren. She attracted attention for her huge war-chest in the race, pouring millions into her own campaign. Campbell had the favor of current Attorney General Maura Healey and U.S. Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley. Campbell will face Republican attorney Jay McMahon in the General Election.

Secretary of State

• Secretary of State Bill Galvin won the Democratic nomination in his quest for a historic 8th term, easily beating challenger and NAACP Boston head Tanisha Sulllivan. He's held the office for 25 years, and will face Republican Rayla Campbell in the general election.

Suffolk County District Attorney

• Current Interim District Attorney Kevin Hayden won over Boston City Councilor Ricardo Arroyo. This race was rocked by allegations of sexual assault against Arroyo, which surfaced in August. Arroyo has vocally denied those accusation from his late teens, and framed them as an attempt to smear him.
