Grandmother Shot, Killed In Dorchester Identified By Family

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police said a 73 year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday night on her porch in Dorchester. Police got the call at around 6:00 PM Saturday night.

WBZ's Suzanne Sausville spoke with the victim's daughter, Shirley Brown, who identified her as 73-year-old Delois Brown.

She said Brown was sitting on her porch with her children and grandchildren, and said an eight-year-old granddaughter saw Brown die.

Brown was rushed to a local hospital and was pronounced dead.

Acting Mayor Kim Janey commented on the shooting on Sunday and said that it was "outrageous that a grandmother, or any individual, cannot sit on their porch on a beautiful spring day without the fear of being shot to death."

Janey spoke briefly to the media Sunday morning, and said she had returned to pay her respects and check in on the family.

There have been no arrests in the case yet and the investigation is ongoing.
