HOLLISTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — One seventh grader from Holliston proved she has plenty of Torah knowledge, after winning the JewQ international competition in her division this year.

The JewQ International Torah Championship 5782 was held on March 13, and it was there that 12-year-old Caitlin Blois secured herself the title of international champion, representing her school, Chabad Hebrew School in Milford.

Competitors for JewQ start by learning all about prayers, holidays, and Jewish heroes while practicing with educational games. Then, students take online or in-person tests which if scored high enough, will qualify them as a JewQ champion to take part in local and international championships.

The competition took place in Princeton, New Jersey as a part of this year's CKids Shabbaton, which has been held since 2018 for children at Chabad Jewish centers across the globe. According to JewQ's website, the event spans 21 countries and 137 cities.

"It feels really good, I had my family and friends, even my teacher supported me," Caitlin said. Blois has won the bronze, silver, and gold medals in the past, but this year she took top honors: a gold trophy for international champion of the seventh-grade division.

Caitlin's mother, Debbie Blois, says she couldn't be prouder.

"I can't enough put into words how proud I am. She took this on all by herself, I didn't have to tell her to study," Blois said.
