HOPKINTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A bonded set of special needs kittens are living the good life now that they've been adopted from Baypath Humane Society in Hopkinton.
Frankie was born with three legs, and her sister Boomer with only stumps for back legs, Baypath Executive Director Liz Jefferis told WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe.
"The umbilical cord got wrapped around these kittens on the way out," she said.
Despite their special needs, the pair have no problem scooting around.
"They compensate, and that's what's so great about these animals," Jefferis said. "They're so resilient."
Laura Bucalo of Agawam heard about Frankie and Boomer and decided to adopt them. She's got two other tripod cats.
"I will now have a fur family of four," Bucalo said. "There's two other three-legged cats they're gonna be joining. These two are just so sweet and cuddly."
Bucalo said she adopted the pair after her former special needs senior cat passed away.
"He was a ton of work, but he was perfect," she said. "He literally changed everything. I adopted him, and then I just decided I was gonna dedicate my time and my home to just special needs kitties."
