How Much Money Can I Expect From The Coronavirus Stimulus Package?

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Early Wednesday morning, lawmakers on Capitol Hill declared a deal had been reached for an historic $2 trillion stimulus package that aims to keep the U.S. economy rolling as the coronavirus pandemic shuts down large chunks of everyday life.

Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell said the Senate will reconvene at noon on Wednesday and a final vote on the bill is expected later in the day. House Leader Nancy Pelosi also said the legislation could pass by unanimous consent through the House of Representatives.

The final language of the bill is still being crafted. It is expected to include a one-time check of $1200 for each adult earning under $75,000 in adjusted gross income, and $500 per child.

The stimulus checks would scale down depending on income, ending for individuals who make at least $99,000 per year, and for couples without children making at least $198,000 per year combined.

If it passes into law, the bill will also allow for an extra $600 in the maximum weekly unemployment benefit for four months.

Speaking on MSNBC's Morning Joe on Wednesday morning, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said "the odds are high" that another stimulus package will be necessary in the future. "We have to see in the next few weeks what other problems haven't been solved," Schumer said.
