NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Weather this week might be balmy, but it will still be months before Greater Boston can return to the beaches — that is, except for one. Steve Mugford has just opened "The Beach House" in Natick, a massive indoor beach sports facility.
The facility's floor is covered by 15,000 square feet of heated sand, a foot and a half deep. After spending decades in the corporate world, Mugford decided to change course and start the facility, which will host beach volleyball games and other beach sports indoors.
"I have the best job in the world, to be able to walk around in shorts and flips-flops all day, while everyone else is trudging around in their boots..." he said. Mugford wants to eventually rent out the space for parties.
