Lady Gaga, Other Celebrities Have Unclaimed Property In Massachusetts

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg announced a new batch of names being added to the state's list of unclaimed property owners Thursday, and you might recognize some of them.

Stefani Germanotta, more commonly known as Lady Gaga, is one of the names of people with unclaimed property or money here in Massachusetts.

“Put on your poker face and declare what is rightfully yours,” State Treasurer Goldberg said in a statement. “Reach for your telephone and give us a call today to begin the claims process!”

Pharrell Williams, members of New Edition, Yo Yo Ma, Steven Tyler, Megan Trainor, and Susan Tedeschi all joined Lady Gaga on the list of musicians with unclaimed property in the Commonwealth. The list has over 55,000 properties that are estimated to be worth millions of dollars, according to the treasurer.

Unclaimed property can include things like forgotten bank accounts, un-cashed checks, stocks, dividends, insurance policy proceeds, and the contents of unattended safety deposit boxes. The treasurer's office updates the list every six months.

In 2021, the state treasury processed over 113,000 claims worth over $174 million, according to State Treasurer Goldberg. Those who are unsure if they have any unclaimed property can search for themselves at the Unclaimed Property Divison's website or by calling the office at 888-344-6277.
