Live Ammunition Found Outside Auburn High School, Police Investigate

AUBURN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police investigate after three rounds of live ammunition were found in the parking lot of Auburn High School this morning.

Officers placed the school in a brief "soft lock down" while they recovered the ammunition, the department said on Facebook.

"As the investigation is ongoing no further information will be released, however we can assure appropriate action will be taken," investigators said. "At no time did we ever believe there was a threat to school safety."

Officers from Auburn, Worcester and the State Police Department swept inside and outside the school.

They said they discovered the "origin of the ammunition."
