BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's one of the busiest travel days of the year, and Logan Airport is no exception. Officials from Massport said peak travel times on Wednesday were between 5:00 AM and 8:30 AM in the morning, and were expecting another peak in the afternoon between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Ed Freni, Massport's Director of Aviation, told WBZ NewsRadio that about 130,000 people were expected to pass through Logan on Wednesday alone. Freni expects 1.2 million total people to pass through the airport for the Thanksgiving rush between last Friday and Monday.

In terms of people coming back to town after the weekend, "this coming Sunday will be the busiest return time...Sunday will be the busiest of all," he said.

Freni said Massport is encouraging people to take a little more time to make their flight and to check their flight statuses before leaving.
