Long Standoff In Charlestown Ends With 1 Person Arrested, No Injuries

CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man was arrested after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement in Charlestown Saturday night.

Police said officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Caldwell Street around 4:30 p.m. A witness reported an emotionally disturbed person was armed with some type of firearm or shotgun. Police found the person barricaded inside an apartment, officials said.

Boston Police Department negotiators and SWAT responded to the scene and negotiated with the individual for hours.

The man was taken into custody around 1 a.m. on Sunday and transported to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Boston police said Sunday that the apartment is sealed off while investigators wait for a search warrant.
