LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — City officials in Lynn are hoping to increase residents' response rates to the 2020 census with a campaign on social media, banners, and billboards.
"We need the money for our schools, healthcare housing, transportation," said Janet Rose, Chief of Elections in Lynn. "We're trying to really get that message out."
The city had planned in-person pushes for more residents to complete the census, but the events were canceled due to COVID-19.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the census response was originally set to end on July 31, but that date has also been pushed back to Oct. 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
