LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two pedestrians were injured Tuesday afternoon when a car slammed into a bus stop, Massachusetts State Police said.
The crash happened on the Lynnway at Harding Street around 12:25 p.m.
"A 2009 Hyundai Accent sedan...veered off the road and struck the bus stop shelter," State Police said in a release.
One victim, a 54-year-old woman, was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second victim, a man around 75 years old, was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash was not yet known. State Police said a second vehicle, a 2009 Nissan Murano driven by a 54-year-old Lynn man, may also have been involved.
All lanes on the Lynnway were reopened shortly before 3 p.m.
Nobody faces charges in the crash at this time, but State Police are still investigating.
