Man Wanted By Spencer Police For Alleged Martial Arts Sword Attack

SPENCER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Spencer Police are looking for a man they say stabbed another man with a martial arts "Sai Sword" on Wednesday.

Officers were called to a residence on Bixby Road at around 1 p.m. Wednesday, where they found 26-year-old Nicholas A. Rudolph, of Lowell, suffering from a puncture wound in his back.

Rudolph was taken by ambulance to UMass Hospital in Worcester. He later identified 31-year-old Brendon Jay Unrich as the suspect.

Police say Unrich used a sai in the alleged attack, which is a three-pronged sword used in martial arts practices.

Police have released a photo of Unrich and a picture of the type of weapon used on their Facebook page. They believe he left Massachusetts after the incident.

Unrich is wanted on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to police.
