MARSHFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Before settling into the holiday, residents in Marshfield, Mass. got some exercise Thanksgiving morning.

This year was the 9th Annual MarshVegas Turkey Trot, giving people a chance to burn some calories before they consume them. The event is a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield.

Roughly 650 people, 70 dogs and 40 baby carriages participated in the event. Everyone who participated was given a pie after completing the race.

WBZ NewsRadio’s Carl Stevens spoke to some of this year’s participants.

“We love doing it and this year we even got two of the kids to come out of five kids so that was a bonus,” said one participant.

“It’s a really nice time to be able to walk with people, chat, catch up, get a little fresh air and exercise and then spend the rest of the day eating and relaxing together,” said another Marshfield resident.
