BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed another 4,162 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Commonwealth to 311,090.
The DPH also reported another 60 deaths among confirmed cases of the virus, upping the state's total confirmed death toll to 11,465. There have also been 252 deaths among probable cases.
More than 86,600 cases of the virus are estimated to be active in Massachusetts, according to the DPH. The state's seven-day average rate of positive coronavirus tests has dropped slightly to 5.78 percent.
There are currently 1,919 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the Commonwealth; a slight decrease since Saturday.
According to the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, more than 17.8 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the U.S., and more than 317,400 Americans have died of the virus to date.
