WESTBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — MassWildlife has started its annual rite of spring stocking trout in local bodies of water.

The state said 75% of the almost half million fish getting released are more than a foot long.

Almost half are over 14" long.

Rainbow, Brown, Brook and Tiger trout are all part of the release mix that come from the state's five hatcheries located in Sandwich, Palmer, Belchertown, Sunderland, and Montague.

Between April 16-19 during spring break, parents and kids are invited to take part as trout release volunteers.

Additional information such as the release locations and times is available from MassWildlife.
