Massachusetts Nears 9,000 Deaths Among Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts State Department of Public Health reported another 435 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Saturday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 122,637.

The state DPH also reported an additional 16 deaths among confirmed COVID-19 cases.

So far, there have been 8,987 deaths among confirmed cases, and 209 deaths among probable cases in the Commonwealth. Around 64 percent of the state's COVID-related deaths have been reported in long-term care facilities.

According to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center, the U.S. has confirmed nearly 6.5 million cases of coronavirus, and more than 193,000 deaths.
