BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — There are some changes to MBTA service for the Fourth of July.

Service will be free after 9:30 p.m. Thursday night as large crowds of people will be heading to the Charles River Esplanade to watch the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.

Buses will be running on a Sunday schedule, but there will be express bus shuttles from Boylston to Riverside following the fireworks.

Subways are operating on a Sunday schedule until 2 p.m., and then will run on rush hour levels of service.
