Members Of 2004 Red Sox Championship Team Will Return To Fenway Tuesday

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It will be quite the reunion at Fenway Park on Tuesday, April 9, as some 40 members of the Red Sox 2004 World Championship Team are expected to return home for opening day festivities, marking the Sox 124th home season, and their 113th at Fenway Park. The celebrations will begin around 1:30 p.m. and will feature tributes to those members of the Red Sox no longer with us including Tim Wakefield and his wife Stacy, who passed away in February of this year and October of last year respectively.  

Also, in attendance at the event will be Governor Maura Healey, Mayor Michelle Wu, and DCR Commissioner Brian Arrigo who will present the 2004 Championship team with a “Reversed the Curse” sign, signifying the team’s historic championship win for the team after an 86-year drought.

Members of the 2004 World Series team who are expected to attend Tuesday’s open day festivities include David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis, Jason Varitek, and Manny Ramirez, among many others, according to a Red Sox press release.  

Tuesday’s Red Sox home opener will be broadcast on NESN starting at 1:10 p.m.
