MILFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Fall River man was arrested after Milford Police said he made a threatening hoax call to the Veterans Affairs Hotline—and live-streamed that prank call on social media.
Kenneth Fillion, 37, is charged with misleading a police officer, making a false report to a public safety dispatch, threatening to commit a crime, making terroristic threats, and a civil rights violation. In addition, he had two warrants for his arrest out of Fall River for trespassing and assault and battery, and one from Massachusetts State Police for speeding.
Milford Police said Fillion called the Veterans Affairs Hotline on Wednesday, saying that someone in a Senate Road apartment had threatened to shoot themselves. They said he also made "disparaging comments about the hotline staff members race and ethnicity while threatening violence."
Milford Police responded and found Fillion, who initially gave police a different name. Once officers determined the call was a hoax, they ran Fillion's name through a computer database and found his three outstanding warrants.
Fillion, set to be arraigned Tuesday, is being held on $10,815 bail.
