Moakley Park To Get An Upgrade

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The sprawling Moakley Park in South Boston will be getting a very expensive face lift.

The city plans to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to not only renovate the park, but protect the coastline from flooding and rising sea levels.

Such upgrades would include: A 12-foot berm built around the park to protect it and the entire area from coastal flooding.

Eventually city officials want to close part of Day Boulevard to car traffic and create a promenade, linking the park directly to Carson Beach.
