BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A report shows that Massachusetts has room for improvement when it comes to road quality.

Data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics showed that in 2022, 26.05% of Massachusetts' roads were not considered acceptable.

Some local drivers agree.

"Gnarly" is how Juan from Hanover describes Route 53, a road he frequently drives on. "It's crazy," he said. "Some of them are 12-inches deep." The 'them' he refers to are potholes. "I don't like any potholes," he added.

Todd, who drives a motorcycle, told WBZ NewsRadio that potholes "throw your balance off."

"It'll take a wheel out from under you," Todd said. "Needing to avoid them causes me to move around on the lane more."
