New Tool From Historic Society Lets Anyone Discover Pilgrim Ancestors

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With Thanksgiving around the corner, a new tool from the New England Historic Genealogical Society can help interested residents find out if they are descended from pilgrims that came over on the Mayflower.

A database compiled by the Genealogical Society lets anyone look through the data – approved applications to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD).

102 people originally came over on the Mayflower, and there are around 35 million descendants of the pilgrims around the world today.

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower voyage, which crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Europe in 1620.
