DORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It was a most memorable day for 155 new citizens who were sworn in at the JFK Presidential Library in Dorchester Wednesday afternoon.
U.S District Court Judge Nathaniel Gorton presided over the ceremony greeting the newest Americans while reminding them that the responsibility of citizenship isn't passive and that it's a challenging time they've chosen to become American citizens.
He said it doesn't matter where they are from. "It only matters where your ambition, your perseverance, and your courage will take you," he said.
Judge Gorton also stressed the importance of voting and defending democracy during difficult times.
