CONCORD, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New Hampshire man has been accused of nearly 30 years of identity fraud, police said.
New Hampshire State Police said Juan Velazquez, 69, of Hudson, New Hampshire, was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing the identity of a man from Pennsylvania and using it for the last 28 years.
According to officials, the investigation into the alleged crime began in June 2022 when the Pennsylvania man was unable to renew his driver's license due to someone in New Hampshire holding a credential with the same name.
Police said a lengthy investigation shows Velazquez unlawfully obtained documents to pose as the Pennsylvania resident for almost three decades.
Velazquez was charged with Identity Fraud, which is a class A felony, as well as Unsown Falsification and Tampering with Public Records, which are both misdemeanors. Velazquez will be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Sept. 7.
