N.H. Fish and Game officials say the victim lost consciousness for a significant amount of time after she fell, as Mountain Patrol Rangers arrived at her aid and decided to request a medical helicopter for her transportation, based on the severity of her injuries and proximity to the mountain's summit.

Officials say a Conservation Officer, Mountain Patrol Rangers, and good Samaritans carried the victim, in a litter, bringing her a short distance from the helicopter's landing zone just below the summit.

A Boston MedFlight helicopter arrived and transported the hiker to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. N.H. Fish and Game reminded the public that the incident is a reminder for hikers to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor recreation, hike in numbers, and carry all the necessary equipment.
