North Andover's First Presumptive Positive Case Of COVID-19

NORHT ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —Town officials in North Andover have confirmed the first presumptive positive case of coronavirus in a resident.

On Saturday, officials said the resident has been "following the recommended quarantine protocols."

While the patient's name and location is not being released, officials did give some background on the coronavirus case. In a statement, the town said the case was "not a community spread instance of the illness."

It also said staff from the Board of Health is in regular contact with the individual to monitor their status and condition, and the risk of contracting the virus in North Andover "remains low."

"We understand this is a time of great uncertainty," the Town of North Andover Health Department statement said. "We are asking residents to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by practicing self-distancing, avoiding large crowds and spending time at home with their families."
