DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Town of Dedham has teamed up with a recreational rental company to provide a unique way to rent out kayaks.

Dedham Parks and Recreation partnered with rent.fun to bring a self-serve vending machine with four kayaks available to the public. If the project is successful in its first year, rent.fun will build an additional four stations in Dedham.

“We’ve had the Charles River going all through Dedham,” said Dedham Parks and Recreation Director Robert Stanley. “We don’t really have any locations in Dedham to do this type of thing, so we wanted to serve the need.”

All you have to do to rent the kayaks is download the app and scan the QR code at the station. Once you’re done, just return to the rental station, unlock the door using the app and place the kayak back inside.

People can rent one of the kayaks for two hours for just $25. Each additional hour costs an extra $15.

Kayak rentals are available from sunrise to sunset and include life jackets and paddles.
