DENNIS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man accused of going on a "gel pellet" shooting spree on Cape Cod pleaded not guilty in court this week.

Dennis Police said 22-year old Tyler Noe was in Dennis Port on armed with a gel pellet gun — similar to a paintball gun — when he opened fire on a Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority bus near Depot Street.

They say he then drove to the nearby Patriot Square Shopping Plaza in South Dennis, and shot an older man with pellet gun.

Lieutenant Peter Benson of the Dennis Police said the gel pellet guns are a new innovation that local departments are seeing more of. The guns shoot water-based pellets that burst when they hit something. The pellets can also be frozen to make them more dangerous, though there's no indication that happened in this case.

Noe is facing a charge of Assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60. He was ordered held on $2,500 bail on Wednesday, and is expected back in court for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 27.
