CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A year after a Cambridge man was brutally murdered in a park near his home, authorities are asking the public for help in the investigation.
Paul Wilson, 60, was found lying on a path under a streetlight in Danehy Park around 6:48 p.m. on January 2, 2019. He was taken to Beth Israel Hospital and pronounced dead.
Authorities said he was killed by multiple blunt force injuries to his head. Though the Middlesex District Attorney's office said progress has been made in the investigation, no suspect has yet been identified.
“Today we want the public to know that this investigation is still ongoing and that we are still looking to hear from people who may have seen anything unusual on or around January 2," Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a release. "To date, investigators have conducted an exhaustive search of the park and a canvas of the neighborhoods surrounding the area."
According to investigators, Wilson rode a Blue Bike to and from the Porter Square MBTA station and took the Red Line to and from his job at IBM on the day of his murder, before walking through Danehy Park after he got home.
Police ruled out robbery as a motive, because Wilson, who was 6'6" and wearing shorts, a red winter coat, a winter hat, and gloves at the time, was found with all of his belongings on him—including an Apple Watch.
The Middlesex DA's office said they've been made aware of similar incidents in Cambridge and elsewhere, but said they don't believe any of those incidents are related to Wilson's murder. They also said a baseball bat was located near the scene, but said they found nothing tying it to the murder.
Investigators are still testing forensic evidence gathered at the scene, and said some of the blood found was that of an animal.

"We are grateful to the members of the community in and around Cambridge who came forward to provide video and witness accounts and we thank everyone who knew and loved Paul who came forward to provide information, but there is still more to be done," Ryan said.
