PLYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man charged with driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a 13-year-old girl was ruled a danger to society by a judge Friday and held without bail for up to 120 days.
Gregory Goodsell, 31, of Marshfield was held after a hearing that included testimony from three police officers.
Goodsell faces manslaughter and other charges in connection with the crash in Pembroke at about 7 a.m. on Dec. 29.
A girl in the other vehicle, identified by her family as Claire Zisserson, died at the hospital. Another 13-year-old girl and a 50-year-old woman were seriously hurt.
Goodsell was driving 70 mph and ran a red light, police said.
He told officers he drank beer and whiskey and did cocaine at a company holiday party, according to the police report.
Goodsell was driving a pickup truck owned by his employer, Hi-Way Safety Systems.
The company said Friday that Goodsell had been fired for violating company policy by using the truck outside of work hours and having alcohol in the vehicle. The company called the crash a “terrible tragedy.”
Goodsell’s father, Jay Goodsell, said his son has a 21-month old daughter and is a “good kid” who messed up.
“I assure you my son feels terrible,” he said.
