MANSFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police seized 23 firearms, more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition and "items used for making improvised explosives" from a home in Mansfield, the town's police department said in a press release.

Mansfield police first raided the house at 142 Church St. Wednesday after arresting the suspect on unrelated charges.

State and federal officials searched the property again Thursday after uncovering more information on the weapons.

The 61-year-old suspect remains in custody on his original two warrants, police said.

He faces six new weapons charges in Attleboro District Court.

Those include possession of a large-capacity firearm and possession of explosives.
