DOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It was called "Rock Fest," but the name had nothing to do with rock and roll.
Every spring, workers at Powisset Farm in Dover need to clear out the rocks that pop up into the soil during winter.
"We’re getting the fields ready because the seedlings are in the greenhouse and they’re going to be ready to plant probably in the next few weeks," said D.A. Hayden, Regional Vice President of the Trustees of Reservations.
The Trustees came up with a way to help out Powisset and turn the menial chore into a fun day at the farm.

"We found that when families are here and they see them out there, like, 'Well that would be kind of fun, we can do that," Hayden said.
And thus, "Rock Fest" was born. Kids and families showed up to Powisset Farm on Sunday to play in the mud, pick up rocks, and throw them into a tractor loader.
"There are an awful lot of big ones too," said Maeve, who told WBZ NewsRadio she was having a blast. "There’s more big ones than small ones."
There was also a rock relay race, rock-themed crafts, and prizes for the most rocks collected, biggest rock pile, most unusual looking rock, heaviest rock, muddiest family, and muddiest child.
