Puzzle Sales Increase Amid Stay-At-Home Orders

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As coronavrius concerns continue to affect American life, one company benefiting from the pandemic is Puzzle Warehouse that says its business is up 2000% compared to last year.

With many people stuck inside looking for things to do, the company says solving a jigsaw puzzle is a great way to pass the time and exercise the brain, solo or with others.

According to a puzzle trade group, Jigsaw Puzzles Enthusiasts, while both traditional and computer jigsaw puzzles are popular, traditional puzzles are big sellers because entire families can play together.

The group also says that along with just being fun, there are proven benefits to solving jigsaw puzzles: improved hand-eye coordination; memory; problem-solving; and visual-spatial reasoning.

The biggest-selling puzzles come in 300, 500, and 1000 pieces. But for the more adventurous puzzle-solvers with a lot of time on their hands and a huge dining-room table, a company in Spain sells an immense 24,000-piece puzzle on Amazon called ‘Educa Borras’ that measures 14X5 feet. The company also replaces any lost pieces for free.
