BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Friday is the Red Cross’ annual 9/11 Day of Service Blood Drive. Normally, the event is held at Fenway Park, but because of MLB COVID-19 protocols, the location has been changed.
It is now being held at Big Night Entertainment Group, Studio B and Music Hall at 110 Causeway St.
“From a pandemic, to a highly active hurricane and wildfire season, nothing about 2020 has been normal,” Holly Grant, Chief Executive Officer for the American Red Cross of Massachusetts, said in a statement. “One thing that never changes, however, is the need for a steady blood supply. We’re so grateful for the donors who turn out year after year – and the strong support of our partners, the Boston Red Sox, Beth Israel Lahey Health and Big Night Entertainment Group.”
Donors will have to schedule an appointment and pass an additional health screening before entering the donation area. Everyone is also required to wear a face covering.
Donors will be given a free Red Cross t-shirt as a thank you and parking will be validated at the TD Garden/North Station garage.
And anyone who donates blood or platelets between Sept. 1-30 will be given a coupon for a free haircut at Sport Clips.
