BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio)— As the Boston Red Sox look to continue their march towards the World Series, fans in Boston are feeling the hype.
"This team was not expected to go this far in the postseason at all so we're all just really excited that we get to keep watching baseball right now here in October," one fan named Jillian told WBZ's Shari Small this morning.
The Red Sox play Game 1 of the American League Championship Series tonight in Houston against the Houston Astros. It's a rematch of the 2018 ALCS, where the Red Sox beat the Astros in five games and later went on to win the World Series.
Ace pitcher Chris Sale is set to get the ball for Game 1 while Nathan Eovaldi is set to pitch Game 2. WBZ's Drew Moholland spoke with Red Sox legend David Ortiz about the series, and he said he's confident the Red Sox pitching staff will be strong in this series.
"Sale I'm pretty sure is going to be better," Ortiz said. "Eovaldi, Eduardo [Rodriguez] showed me the other day that he's right on and they're going to need some pitching because the Houston offense is pretty good."
The Sox will be in Houston for Games 1 and 2 of the series before coming home to Boston for Games 3, 4, and, if necessary, 5 at Fenway. Tickets for the games at Fenway Park go on sale at 10 a.m. on the Red Sox website. Resale tickets on Ace ticket and other ticket sites are going for around $170.
