Rep. Ayanna Pressley Reveals Cause For Wigs

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Rep. Ayanna Pressley revealed her alopecia, which has resulted in baldness, to The Root.

Pressley told the publication that she would wake up every day to discover more hair had fallen out.

She says she first became aware of the patches in the fall, and her last piece of hair came out just before she had to vote on the articles of impeachment.

It was also the anniversary of her mother's death. Pressley wore a wig made by Jamal Edmonds hours before she was set to vote.

Previously, Pressley was known for her Senegalese and bomb twists. This made the switch to wigs harder, as she had become an icon for natural black hairstyles.
