BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Thousands of running enthusiasts attended the Hynes Convention Center Saturday for the first day of the Boston Run Show.

The running expo brings together speakers, expert coaches, and more than 100 vendors to show off the latest gear, technology, and nutrition.

Event manager David Barclay told WBZ NewsRadio that the Run Show is not just for experienced runners.

"If you take one step, you’re a runner. So no matter how fast or how far you go, you’re included within the event," Hanratty said.

Among the exhibitors on Saturday was Chip Hawkins of Atlanta-based Wahoo Fitness. Hawkins was eager to debut the Wahoo KICKR RUN, a treadmill that uses sensor technology to automatically adjust its speed.

"You can sprint or stop and it just reacts to your changes in speed, much more like running outside," Hawkins said.

Attendees could peruse everything from sneakers and running strollers to chocolates, hair extensions, and butt wipes. There were also mini yoga and stretching classes, a kids zone, and a collection point where people could donate their old running shoes.

On the frostier side, Lindsay Mahoney took a cold plunge and submerged up to her chest in 45° water.

"My legs, my feet, are tingling. It’s really, really cold, but it feels amazing," Mahoney told WBZ.

The Boston Run Show concludes on Sunday.
