SEEKONK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Three women were struck by a car Thursday afternoon at the Bayberry Shopping Plaza on Highland Avenue in Seekonk.

One of the women was pinned under the vehicle. Seekonk Police said the three women were taken to an area trauma center with injuries described as "serious."

A witness told WBZ NewsRadio's Suzanne Sausville she saw an elderly man get into his SUV and reverse at a high rate of speed, driving in a circle and hitting the three women, who were standing by their car talking.

Witnesses said the elderly man got out of his vehicle and appeared confused. He is now at the Seekonk Police Department, but no charges have been filed at this time.

"He's not under arrest at this moment, but it's under investigation," said Seekonk Police Captain Matthew Jardine.

Allyson, who saw the crash, said the woman pinned under the car was begging for help, and was bleeding.

"As soon as the paramedics took over, I think my emotions just set in, and I threw up everywhere just from the shock of it, and from the scene of the entire thing," she said. "It was just awful."
