SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Rep. Seth Moulton and Sen. Ed Markey spoke on gun control at a joint press conference on Thursday in Salem.
Moulton, who served four tours in Iraq as a US Marine, said the idea that someone could be on American streets "with assault weapons, with machine guns, with weapons of war," was "absurd."
He said being able to do so is "perpetuating the kind of violence" he saw as a Marine.
The comments at the press conference comes amid President Joe Biden's signing of six Executive Actions on gun control on Thursday. The executive orders instructed federal government to restrict the use of "Ghost Guns" which have no serial numbers and can be assembled at home, among other restrictions.
Sen. Markey, who has long been a proponent of gun control, commented that the National Rifle Association holds too much sway in American politics.
"The NRA has had a vise-like grip on the United Stated Congress for a generation..." he said. "We have to turn 'N-R-A' into 'Not Relevant Anymore,'" he continued.
