Sunflowers On Display At Colby Farm

NEWBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — This is one of the best weekends for an ultimate summer selfie.

Over at Colby Farm in Newbury, there are over 200,000 flowers in full bloom, with a few stragglers expected to catch up in a week—weather permitting.

The sea of gold has inspired many to come out to take simple and inventive photos alike.

"We've had many engagements over there, pregnancy pictures, first newborn pictures," Elizabeth Knight, who is part of the family that runs Colby Farm, said. People come dressed very interesting. We've had Mother Earth over there. Many different sunflower outfits. It's the absolute selfie destination, that's for sure."

The farm has been around since 1960.

Some people make it out to the farm just to see the beauty firsthand.

"I got tears, it's overwhelming," Ellen from Beverly said.

As of this week, the flowers are 80 percent in bloom, and they are expected to peak this Labor Day weekend.
