Suspected Robber In Custody After Barricading In Salem Home

SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A suspect was arrested after barricading themselves in a home following an early morning armed robbery in Salem Tuesday, police said.

According to police, the robbery occurred near Bowditch Hall at Salem State University at around 5:45 a.m. and involved a dispute over a scooter.

The robber ran off to a home at 106 Broadway near the O'Keefe Sports Complex and refused to come out.

Police secured the area and told members of the community to stay away. Salem State University also issued an alert about the incident on social media, though without giving too many details.

At around 11:12 a.m., the scene was cleared with the suspect in custody and no injuries reported, police said.

Police said specific charges have not yet been filed.
